The oil of the seed is nonconventional a renewable cost, power plant low and in addition respectable with the medio.ambiente, in addition to being a substitute for diesel engine, Queroseno and other fuels. Also it is used to prepare varnishes after being burned with oxides of iron, or like an excellent substitute for industrial oils. The oil was used in motors in Africa during World War II. It burns without producing smoke and has been used for illumination of streets.
THE OIL:
The Jatropha curcas, belongs to the
Euphorbiaceae family and from whose fruit a seed with a 40% of oil is obtained. This plant is original of Central America. In Mexico, the plant is located in: Hidalgo, Veracruz, Morelos among others. The Jatropha at the moment is distributed in several parts of the world, as a result of to it to have taken it the Spaniards to Portugal, country from which was taken to Asia and Africa, as it happened to other net Mexican bióticos products of origin. The oil obtained from the pressed one of the seeds is of product use of the Chemical Industry, being the main destiny its use for the manufacture of BIODIESEL and by-products.
The oil of seed of Africa inquired that it contains esteórico acid, palmítico, mirístico, oleic and linoleico, there were ricinoleico no acid plans or some other hidroxiacid, this oil has laxative strong properties greater than the ricino oil. The oil content (lipids) is within the order of the oily seeds. The color is yellow sure inoloro. The saponificación index is of the order of 196, the one of iodine of 99,06, the one of acidity of 13,86, the one of esters of 182,1, the one of hidroxilo 8,53, the one of acetyl 8,48, the insaponificable matter of 0,82 %, the refractive index to 25°C was of 1,4688, the specific gravity to 25°C was of 0,9100, viscosity to 25°C was of 62 cp. The iodine index indicates that it contains greater amount of insaturados fatty acids that the olive oil, palm and ricino and equal amount that the oil of peanut and minor who the maize oil. The indices of hidroxilo and acetyl indicate that the oil of digliceridos J. curcas contains monkey and/or. The oil of Jatropha is adapted for the production of Biodiesel, since the freezing index requires of inferior temperatures a
-20ºC.
This oil does not have applications for the nourishing industry, thus its only use is the industrialist. The seed of the plant of Jatropha curcas contains 42 % of oil which has similar fisico
chemical
properties to those of eatable oils not being apt for the human consumption or animal (except which it is extracted of some variety of seed cultivated in Mexico).

"Therefore, there are other richer oil cultures than the soybean, colza, sunflower, etc", as it is the JATROPHA (To see attached Table). We are developing a program with alternative cultures, for marginal areas, whose oil does not compete with the destined one to elaborate foods. It is necessary to develop cheap oils, because in the long run they are going away to use to be burned within the motors ". Ascending Order:
